Companies Act 2006

The Companies Act 2006 is the culmination of an 8-year review of company law, which aims to provide a simple, efficient and cost effective framework for British business.

About a third of the Act comprises of policy and other changes to existing companies' legislation, the rest being merely a restatement of the current provisions in plain English.

Some provisions of the Act are already in force with the remainder being phased in on 06 April and 01 October 2008.
