Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA)
There are two types of LPA: one can deal with property and affairs and one with personal welfare.
Property and affairs - covers decision making about finances including accessing bank accounts and investments, selling property and dealings with business interests.
Personal welfare - covers day to day decisions about health and welfare including where to live, diet and dress.
Making an LPA now gives you the freedom to choose exactly who you want to appoint as your attorney(s) to make decisions for you if you become physically or mentally incapable. The benefits of making an LPA include:-
- You can choose the most appropriate person to deal with your business affairs
- Someone different can be appointed to deal with personal decisions
- You can leave conditions and guidance to your attorneys so they know the type of decisions you would of wanted to make
